Worried about biomass ash and slagging? Our biomass partners grow algae in a reduced salt environment that reduces the formation of slag causing alkalis. Algae growth can be enhanced with a range of waste nutrients depending on location, including farm waste with high fertilizer content and CO2 from a fossil fuel combustion boiler. This biomass can then be upgraded by MacArthur Energy to remove moisture, Chlorine and Mercury and combined with coal into engineered coal fuel.
